Youth Sunday School

Youth Sunday School occurs during the 10:30 a.m. Traditional Worship Service.

Youth join their parents in the sanctuary for the beginning of the Service, when the pastor gives the Children's Message.  After the Children's Message, youth are invited to join their Sunday School class.

At Hughes, we strive to provide youth of all ages a firm foundation for their Christian faith with an interactive and engaging cirriculum. This year we are using Cokesbury's Deep Blue.

Deep Blue Kids exists to reach, empower, and equip children, and those who care for them, with grace-based resources that help them on the journey to:

                                                                                                          B e with God
                                                                                                          L ove God and Neighbor
U nderstand themselves as children of God,
E xplore Faith and the Bible

Each weekly adventure begins at church and then continues through the week at home with family conversation and activities.

Deep Blue is a comprehensive Bible study. That’s a grown-up term that says we’re going to cover the whole Bible over three years. And we’re also going to celebrate while we do it. Each year will include the Bible stories that go with our special church holidays like Christmas, Easter and Pentecost.

Deep Blue is for all age groups.

We offer a staffed Nursery School for youth under the age of 2.

Adult Small Group Study

The Colesville Group: The Colesville Community will read and discuss the book The Upside Down Kingdom, revised edition, by Donald B. Kraybill.  The author shows how the kingdom of God announced by Jesus appeared upside-down in first century Palestine.  Jesus wins by serving and triumphs by losing.  Today, God’s way still looks upside-down as it breaks into diverse cultures around the world.  The Upside Down Kingdom not only challenges Christians to resist cultural conformity but also urges people to practice upside-down living rooted in God’s reign.  The Colesville Community meets weekly on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

Serving and Learning Together - SALT

SALT adult Bible study meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m at the church. This group completes several studies each year, which range from topical studies (the Holy Spirit, John Wesley, keeping a positive attitude) to specific books of the Bible. They also set aside time for prayer and sharing joys and concerns. Anyone who is interested in a prayer/study group is welcome to attend. SALT meets year-round, including the summer.

SALT is is studying The New Testament You Never Knew by N.T. Wright and Michael F. Bird. This 8-part video series focuses on the real story behind the New Testament: its context, purpose, and meaning. The group meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the church conference room.

Contact the church for more details regarding any of these groups.
